Join us for Bo Carpelan 100: Carte Blanche, a celebration of music and literature honoring the esteemed Finnish author Bo Carpelan (1926–2011)! 🎉 Immerse yourself in a captivating concert featuring classics from renowned composers like J.S. Bach, Haydn, and Mozart.

• Jean Sibelius's later suite for violin and string orchestra (op. 117, 1929), written in a Neo-classical style for the North American audience but ultimately unpublished.
• Joseph Haydn's Symphony No 22, fondly known as The Philosopher, incorporating English horns instead of oboes, amidst a lush soundscape.
• Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's enchanting Symphony No 1, crafted by the prodigy at just eight years old.
• A refined performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's Violin Concerto in A minor (BWV 1041), showcasing the elegance of the ritornello form.

📖 As a unique highlight, delve into the musical reflections of Bo Carpelan's renowned work Axel (1986), which beautifully weaves together the themes of identity and social isolation through the lens of music. Carpelan once remarked, "The more you listen to Mozart, the more you appreciate Haydn."
