Breaking Barriers: A BIPOC intro to Whitewater Kayaking

Calleva River School, in collaboration with the Canoe Cruisers Association of GreaterWashington, D.C., is offering an intro-to-kayaking weekend dedicated to breaking down barriers in paddlesports for Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) adults and teenagers (ages 15+). By providing accessible, high-quality instruction on the whitewater rapids of the Potomac River, this two-day course combines the technical rigor of Calleva's signature "Zero to Hero" program with aculturally inclusive approach, ensuring that participants feel represented, safe, and ready to learn how to navigate river currents, building long-lasting self-confidence and social bonds.
