Hosted by RecCreate — quite possibly the only club where you spend two glorious hours decorating and eating cake. This spring, RecCreate is thrilled to welcome the incredible Pelah Kitchen to the studio!
Cake Club is not a highly technical cake decorating workshop — and that's exactly the point! Think of it as going over to a friend's apartment for a creative hang where they've already handled all the materials, done all the baking, sourcing, and cleanup, and are ready to show you the basics before the music starts bumping. RecCreate designs every club experience around process, play, and community building, complete with conversation prompts throughout the evening.
You simply show up, experiment, create, yap, and eat cake. It's precious. 🌟
Guest artist Jenneh Kaikai of Pelah Kitchen will share her hottest cake decorating tips before you dive into decorating your very own 4-inch layered mini cake. Afterwards, everyone gathers around the communal table to share one of Pelah Kitchen's signature cakes, sip on beverages, and make new friends.
You'll leave with:
Option A — Spring Floral
Lemon butter cake · Blueberry lavender jam · Vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream
Option B — Mocha Decadence
Espresso chocolate cake · Dark chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream
✨ Both options are topped with toooons of edible flowers!
⚠️ Unfortunately, allergies and dietary restrictions cannot be accommodated for this event.
Jenneh is the founder of Pelah Kitchen, an award-winning microbakery based in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. The name "Pelah" — meaning home in Mende — reflects her Sierra Leonean heritage and her deep commitment to crafting desserts that evoke comfort, belonging, and connection.
A self-taught baker and creative entrepreneur, Jenneh has built Pelah Kitchen into far more than a bakery. Through immersive events, bespoke catering, and hands-on cake decorating experiences, she creates transformative moments that invite people to tap into their creativity while engaging with the richness of African culinary traditions.
The venue is a hidden art studio at 20 Grand Ave, Brooklyn, 6th Floor of a commercial building.
