Child Development Perspective on Intelligence

In the next event, we deviate from our usual ML-heavy perspective and look into what the adjacent field of Child Development has to say about human intelligence.

In focus is a lecture by Alison Gopnik, professor of psychology and cognitive sciences at University of California, Berkeley. She is considered one of the most important voices in child development research and has published terrific books on the topic for the general audience, including "The Scientist in the Crib", "The Philosophical Baby" and "The Carpenter and the Gardener".

In the event, we will discuss the contents of the lecture in a casual round table setup.

There is a small prerequisite for attending this event. When you RSVP, you will be asked a simple question about the lecture. Please make sure to answer it.

We require this to ensure that all attendees have watched the lecture, which makes for a much more efficient and interesting discussion. We will also use your answers to anchor the discussion.

The rough plan for the evening:

18:30 - 19:00: Arrival and networking with pizza and drinks
19:00 - 19:30: Introduction
19:30 - 21:30: Round table discussion, where we collectively discuss the lecture.
