This event will also include an open mic segment, so don't forget to bring a poem (just one, 3 minutes or less)!
Now celebrating its eighth year, the series is a collaboration between Smartish Pace and Baltimore Poets Theatre. Your hosts for the evening will be Clare Banks, David Yezzi, and Stephen Reichert.
Christian Bancroft holds a PhD from the University of Houston and is a Michener Fellow. He has published a poetry collection, A Ghost Has No Fantasies (Unbound, 2026), alongside a book on scholarship titled Queering Modernist Translation (Routledge, 2020). His poetry has been featured in notable journals like Cimarron Review and Gulf Coast.
Joanna Fuhrman, author of seven poetry books including Data Mind (Curbstone/Northwestern University Press, 2024), has her work showcased in Poem-A-Day by the Academy of American Poets and has received recognition in the Pushcart Prize anthologies. An Assistant Teaching Professor at Rutgers University, she has been a co-editor of Hanging Loose Magazine since 2022.
