Community Chai with Nono Gigsta, RosieCpt & Supriyo Dutta

After a long winter hiatus, with renewed natural, spring energy, we welcome you to Community Chai's first gathering of 2026 on 8th May, this time on a Friday evening at 90mil. A community night designed to foster cross-pollination and connection across culinary, artistic, musical, academic and activist circles with food at the center of it all.

Joining us this evening is Indian classical vocal maestro Supriyo Dutta, all the way from Kolkata, India. He will grace us to a North Indian classical vocal recital alongside local tabla and harmonium artists. Calling all vocalists: singers, rappers, beatboxers, MCs, spoken word artists, and anyone who makes their voice an instrument to learn from Supriyo.

Live performance by composer and selector rosiecpt - “sonic dominance” that stems from her thesis research on the symbiotic relationship between soundsystems and the music they’re tailored to, analyzing the collective and affective experience that the sessions allow for. Bass frequencies spark nearly ineffable sensations in our bodies and, among other things, they bring people closer - something that feels extremely needed today.
Originally from Rome, where she co-founded the collective Rêve with childhood friends, she’s now based in Berlin. Her sound orbits around Dub, heavily influenced by her fascination towards soundsystem culture: over a strong low end focus, washed out delays meet digital creatures.

DJ set by Nono Gigsta, who gets as much joy dancing to music as she does sharing it. Her sets are playful yet precise, driven by a deep fascination with low frequencies. Named by RA as the 8th best mix of the last 25 years, her set at Freerotation featuring sampled vocals, personal edits, and a broad spectrum of sounds is praised for its "jaw-dropping transitions," quoting one listener who described it as the “Big Blend Academy.” The French-Belgian DJ has avoided flying since 2019 as part of her commitment to sharing music within planetary boundaries. Beyond the booth, Nono Gigsta curates DIY events and hosts deeply researched radio shows under the title Fictions, as well as meditation and music retreats called Reflections. Nono makes sparse use of social media. There are no pictures of her face online and no videos of her DJing on youtube.
