🎥 The documentary (93 min, 2025) unpacks the hidden costs associated with the European narrative of economic growth and the green transition. It reveals that the promises of prosperity and sustainability often cloak exploitative systems that harm local communities, devastate landscapes, and undermine democracy.

The film connects stories of resistance against both mining and so-called “green” megaprojects in countries like Serbia, Italy, and Sápmi, showcasing how parts of European environmental policies continue to endorse the same logic as fossil fuel economies—just dressed up in greener colors. Toxic green capitalism masquerades as a solution while still working against the best interests of people and the planet.

Alongside community struggles, the film emphasizes the crucial role of workers in transforming workplaces and entire sectors to align with climate goals.

As challenges to the Green Deal emerge from the far-right, The Cost of Growth argues the opposite: it’s not that the green transition is too radical, but that it’s not radical enough, still holding hands with capital without questioning the core logic of growth.
