🌟 Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough is a captivating solo exhibition by the talented Pittsburgh fiber artist Louise Silk. Following her noteworthy retrospective at the Heinz History Center in 2024, this exhibition serves as a career capstone, showcasing an all-new body of work for the first time.

🧶 The exhibition features a stunning array of hand-sewn pieces, including art quilts, scrap quilts, flags, kaftans, portraits, and pillows, all crafted from repurposed fabrics. By blending her own textile scraps with found materials, Silk beautifully unites moments and memories, creating a meaningful visual narrative of her life.

🔯 Reflecting on her spiritual practices, the exhibition draws inspiration from both Judaism and Zen Buddhism. The title, Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough, pays homage to a Passover Seder song that expresses profound gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon the Jewish people. Each quilt serves as a heartfelt expression of this gratitude.

🖼️ With over 50 years of experience in creating art quilts, Louise Silk has successfully exhibited her work across the United States and has enjoyed seven solo exhibitions, including a significant retrospective at the Heinz History Center. Silk resides and works in the vibrant South Side of Pittsburgh and was recently featured in the exhibition Art of Pittsburgh’s South Side.
