Overview
Join us for a delightful outdoor adventure where you'll explore the enchanting trees of the River Wandle and create your own personalized zine!
The River Wandle, a treasured chalk stream in South London, is rich in wildlife and history. With support from the National Heritage Lottery Fund, we're excited to connect young people (ages 16-30) and those from minoritized ethnic backgrounds to this vital natural resource.
What You'll Do:
- Explore the Wandle while learning to interpret the landscape and discover what the trees reveal about the river's ecology.
- Identify Trees: Understand their key features and learn which parts are edible.
- Nature Journaling: Slow down and sketch your findings to create your own personal field guide zine. We'll provide templates, and you bring your creativity! ✍️
- Take home your completed zine—a unique record of your experiences on this special day! No previous art skills or nature knowledge are required—just bring your curiosity! 😊
What to Bring:
- A filled water bottle 💧
- Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing ☀️
- Sturdy shoes and clothes that can get a little dirty
- A packed lunch (snack bars will be provided) 🍏
