Following his bold move in 2025 to eliminate traditional titles such as "UX Designer" and "Content Designer" at Shopify, he emphasizes that, "If you design, you're a Designer. If you write, you're a Writer."

Carl believes AI will democratize fundamental design skills, urging human designers to concentrate on qualities that machines cannot replicate—taste, aesthetics, and unique perspectives. He is currently experimenting with innovative interfaces allowing users to seamlessly switch between talking, typing, and even drawing with AI that functions as an exceptional partner.
