Healing the Community: Mobile's Black Medical History Tour
Join us for an enriching journey through the past with the Healing the Community: Mobile’s Black Medical History Tour! 🚍
Hosted by the Dr. James Franklin Historic House & Gallery in collaboration with the Mobile Medical Museum, this tour delves into the untold stories of African American medical professionals who exhibited resilience during some of our nation’s most challenging times.
Explore the historic neighborhoods where pioneering Black physicians, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, and healthcare advocates made a difference by providing essential care in a segregated Mobile. The places you will visit are not just historical sites but also testament to the dignity, self-determination, and strength of the community. 🏥💪
Your adventure begins at the Historic Avenue Cultural Center, where you'll find a collection of historic photographs, medical devices, and informative text panels. After your visit, you'll board Trail vehicle(s) for the tour of significant locations that shaped healthcare equity. The tour concludes back at the Historic Avenue Cultural Center.
