HR is the legendary frontman of the iconic punk band Bad Brains, who burst onto the Washington, DC music scene in 1979. Known for their unprecedented speed and precision, Bad Brains quickly became a monumental influence in American punk history, breaking cultural barriers and delivering emotionally charged music centered around the message of maintaining a positive mental attitude (PMA). This inspirational concept of PMA continues to resonate with HR's fans.
In his early career, HR embraced reggae and the Rastafarian movement, focusing on the spiritual essence of reggae over the fast-paced lifestyle of punk. In 1984, he formed his reggae-rock band, Human Rights, which has performed and recorded in various forms for over three decades.
