Contact Improvisation began as an exciting experiment where dancers explored the dynamics of falling, catching, and flow. In this workshop, we will dive into key concepts like your center of gravity, weight articulation, and inertia, which will serve as tools to enrich our improvisation experience.

Through a balanced interplay of touch, vision, and sound, we will discover a deeper understanding of ensemble performance and spatial awareness. Navigating timing—allowing room for pauses and shifts in rhythm—opens up a world of spontaneity and joy in collaborative movement.

This workshop welcomes all experience levels, especially those who appreciate a focused approach with a touch of physical and emotional challenge.

🎓 About the Instructor:
Katarina Eriksson, a seasoned practitioner since 1989, has worked with renowned artists and is a co-founder of the Swedish ensemble Floke. She teaches and performs internationally, currently touring with Big Wind’s adaptation of The Tempest for young audiences with special needs. Katarina is also developing her new project, Devolution—a unique dance piece exploring movement.

This workshop is part of the Reshuffling Relations: Festival of Somatic Movement, Improvisation, Dance and Performance running from February 28 to March 22 in Malmö.
