Jaqkodí Sustainability Series

Join our In-House Junior Designer and Workshop Facilitator, Jasmine Dawes, for a full-day hands-on masterclass in garment alterations! This practical and empowering session is designed to help you care for, repair, and transform the clothes you already own.

Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience with a needle and thread, this workshop covers everything from threading a sewing machine to inserting a zip. Over the course of the day, you'll build real, transferable skills across five core areas:

• Tools & Machine Setup
• Hemming
• Taking in Seams
• Waist Adjustments (including elastic waistbands and simple darts)
• Buttons & Repairs
• Zips & Fastenings
• Personal Garment Alteration

After a short break, the afternoon will focus on repairs and fixes (buttons, holes, and decorative patches) and provide dedicated time to apply everything you've learned to a garment of your own. You'll leave with the confidence to alter, repair, and restyle your wardrobe!

What to Bring:
Please come with two garments: a plain t-shirt (for practice) and one item from your wardrobe that you'd like to alter. Avoid anything too thick or structured, such as jeans or leather, as these can be tricky to work with on a standard machine.

Duration: 6.5 hours (including a break)

Jaqkodí Studio is approximately a 10-minute walk from Langdon Park DLR station and a 15-minute walk from both Bromley-by-Bow Underground station and East India DLR station.

Tickets are non-refundable but transferable to same-priced workshops if requested 7 days prior to the start time.
