What is Lammas?

Lammas, an ancient festival celebrated on August 1st (or near the first full moon in Aquarius), marks the beginning of the harvest and serves as a midpoint between the summer solstice and autumn equinox. This celebration honors the god Lugh through:

  • Feasts & Bonfires: Experience community meals and the warmth of bonfires.
  • Athletic Games: Engage in traditional competitions including hurling, handball, and tug-of-war.

Celebration Highlights:

  • Baking Bread: Participate in communal "loaf mass" with bread made from the first harvested grain.
  • Games & Community: Enjoy picnics, potlucks, and shared meals to celebrate the season's bounty.
  • Crafting & Nature: Get involved in making crafts like corn dollies, gathering wild berries, and visiting sacred sites.
  • Reflection: Set intentions and express gratitude for the year's journey while preparing for the colder months ahead.

Come together with family, friends, and neighbors to honor the cycle of life and community spirit.
