This 14-piece ensemble, founded by Sue Mingus, brings to life new arrangements of Mingus' compositions, embodying the dynamic artistry he envisioned but couldn't always achieve.

With a line-up featuring the finest established and rising talents from NYC, the band emphasizes individual expression while staying true to the spirit of Mingus’ innovative jazz workshop approach.

The Mingus Big Band has garnered seven GRAMMY nominations and won its first one in 2011 for Live at Jazz Standard. Notably, they have continued their legendary Mingus Mondays residency at The Pocket, promising the best jazz experience in NYC!
