On the Road to Farmblock, MRKT & Curls Ultra will make a stop at the Ore Dock Brewing Co to rock your socks off!Show starts 8pmFree AdmissionAbout MRKT:For more than a century, proving the existence of telepathy has been a preoccupation for everyone from two-bit carny hucksters to theoretical physicists. Those seeking evidence need look no further than Detroit duo MRKT. Forming in early 2015 as a synthesizer-only duo, MRKT incorporated live drums in 2019 and have spent the intervening years honing a preternatural musical dialog that must be experienced to be properly believed. And even then you may still be stumped as to how they pull it off. Pinning down their myriad influences may prove just as elusive. Everything from Aphex Twin to Eno to Elvin Jones to Daft Punk is food for their unique psychic blender. In the end it sounds something akin to a krautrock outfit playing AOR at a dance club. Extended experimental excursions fit snuggly next to hook-laden, instantly memorable songs with a million stops in between. Everything is anchored by MRKT’s chrome slick groove that magically never loses the warmth of a jam session between friends… and most of all remains blessedly weird.About Curls Ultra:Curls Ultra is an underground post groovy rock band and activist network based in America. The band is known for their exhilarating live shows which feature Boredoms-esque noise jams, CAN inspired kosmiche grooves, and tender ballads depicting the degradation of the American psyche. They have performed at Pitchfork Music Festival, toured across multiple countries and collaborated with Tame Impala, Ariel Pink, Frank Hurricane, Sunburned Hand Of The Man, Wild Pink, Salesforce Child and most recently Tim Heidecker’s Dekkar. Curls Ultra’s debut album AMERICAN BLOOD was released June 26th on Chicago-based label Truth Zone Records. The record was met with widespread critical acclaim. SPIN Magazine describes it as a “deranged, disorienting and surprisingly gleeful trip…sharpening the hippy boogie-woogie rumble for a more dissonant and dystopian age."
