Grump is preparing for death: everything is done and his wife is dead. He is making his own coffin when suddenly life enters his life: his granddaughter needs her grandfather's wisdom and stubbornness. In return, Grump finds meaning in his life – and a big secret.

The grump is ready to call it quits – all the work he was responsible for has been done and the meaning of life has been lost forever. But just as he is about to make his final arrangements, a reason to carry on presents itself. His 17-year-old granddaughter Sofia is in trouble, and her grandfather's stubbornness and wisdom, as well as the warmth of the family home, are just what she needs.
