Multi-sensory arts session with Turner Prize nominated artist Catherine Yass

Are you passionate about art? This engaging multi-sensory arts session is designed for young creatives aged 8 to 16! 🌟 Join us for an incredible experience led by renowned artist Catherine Yass as part of the Turning the Tide programme by the Thames Festival Trust.

In these innovative workshops, participants will explore the vibrant themes of the River Thames through colors, sounds, smells, and light. 🌊💡🌈 The artworks created will be showcased in a month-long riverside exhibition in September 2026, allowing our young artists to shine!

About the Project

Turning the Tide is a prestigious cultural engagement initiative anchored by Catherine Yass, in collaboration with the Graeae theatre company and the City of London Culture Service. Recently shortlisted for the Art Explora Académie des beaux-arts European Award, this project focuses on reshaping perceptions of disabled individuals in public spaces through creative expression.

Workshop Features:

• Installation: A site-specific video art installation showcasing disabled performers from Graeae Young Company, projected onto the historic Blackfriars Railway Bridge. 🌉
• Education Programme: A series of visual arts, film, and photography workshops aimed at providing new skills and boosting confidence within the disabled community. 📷🎥
• Exhibition: Artworks created by participants will be displayed for a month in a high-traffic area of central London, fostering pride and showcasing creativity. 🖼️
• Film: The process will culminate in a film that captures the essence of the project, set to be screened across galleries and museums in 2027. 🎬

Workshop Details

All sessions will be held at the Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC), engaging with the river as an inspiring subject. Participants will gather impressions from a Thames visit, and later collaborate to express their experiences creatively. 🎤
