👩🏽‍💻👋🏼 Neighborhood Tech Build Jam

Overview
Join Good Neighbor Lab, Relational Tech Project, and SF Civic Tech for our joint celebration of the inaugural Future of Us festival in San Francisco. We're co-hosting a Neighborhood Tech Build Jam!

Do you live in San Francisco? Are you the person who created the group chat for your block or building, designs flyers, or organizes neighborhood potlucks? Are you curious about what else you might build and co-create with your actual neighbors? Do you want to take action towards a positive vision for your neighborhood?
You're invited to join us at the Neighborhood Tech Build Jam. Bring your neighbors and you can bring home something that you have built together!
What to Expect
We'll eat good food, get to know one another, build a software tool with support from the Relational Tech Project (zero tech experience required!), and create something physical (and fun!) that will help reach people in your neighborhood. Then, we'll show each other what we built, get inspired to spread and remix our ideas across our city, and decide how we want to stay in touch.
You can expect:
Guidance for building a connective digital experience for your neighborhood
Arts n crafts for creating a connective physical experience for your neighborhood
Drinks & Dinner with Vegetarian Options
Learning about local projects that need help
Dedicated People and Excellent Vibes
Please bring:
Your laptop
A neighbor (have them register, too!)
Ideas about care, connection, and fun in your neighborhood
Questions about what might be possible
Parking & Transportation
We recommend taking public transportation or biking, as parking is limited in Hayes Valley.
Accessibility & Considerations
Note that there are multiple steps down to enter the Commons and that it is a shoes-off space (slippers provided).

About Good Neighbor Lab
Good Neighbor Lab helps San Franciscans become more connected to our neighbors, more informed about our communities, and more engaged in shaping our city. We envision a future where residents in every neighborhood feel connected to those around them, are comfortable reaching out to socially isolated neighbors, and can access local information in public spaces. This future strengthens local democracy, civic participation, and community connection across San Francisco and beyond.

About the Relational Tech Project
RTP's mission is to support people in cultivating healthy relational soil — the conditions in which agency, belonging, and trust can grow. The Relational Tech Studio helps us collectively build and tap into a global commons.
We believe we can build what we need. Software can support our visions for care and connection in our neighborhoods. Critically, the process of building technology can deepen relationships with the people around us.

About SF Civic Tech
We are a welcoming and inclusive volunteer group of developers, designers, data geeks, and citizen activists who use creative technology to solve civic and social problems. We meet every Wednesday at 6:30pm.

About the Future of Us Festival
Launching on America's 250th anniversary, the inaugural Future of Us festival is a 10-day celebration of civic imagination and possibility. We're turning community-sourced, expert-crafted visions of the future into art, storytelling, and participatory experiences. With 100+ events spanning every corner of the city (floral labyrinths, speculative future worlds, dance parties with a purpose, and neighborhood meet-ups), it's a living exploration of what a more creative and generative civic culture could feel like. Organized around four themes (Green Futures, Social Futures, Science & Tech Futures, and Media Futures), Future of Us is breaking down the barriers between art, ideas, and each other, and everyone is invited to co-imagine what comes next.
