Historic Huguenot Street is thrilled to bring you the 5th annual New Netherland Marketplace: Living History Event! 🎉

Join us for a fascinating weekend where visitors can immerse themselves in the unique cultures of the Lenape Delaware, Black communities, and European settlers, showcasing their craftsmanship and traditions from mid-17th century New Netherland.

Experience the following highlights:

  • Ongoing demonstrations of open fire cooking, cordage making, bow shooting, flintknapping, arrow making, and hide tanning by members of federally recognized Lenape Delaware communities 🌾.
  • Participate in cultural stomp dance demonstrations and witness North American Dingos as they discuss Eastern Woodland hunting traditions 🐕.
  • Explore the craftsmanship of living historians portraying European merchants and artisans with engaging demonstrations on woodworking, hearth cooking, and wampum making.
  • Browse the marketplace for camp gear, furs, clothing, wooden bowls, children's toys, and more! 🛍️
  • Enjoy live music performances throughout both days and a captivating raree show featuring classic Dutch folktales 📖.
  • Attend scheduled programming including martial arts demos, cutlass fighting, a quack show, and a portrayal of Adriaen van der Donck.
  • Learn about the lives and histories of the colony’s early enslaved people from "Inalienable Rights," the Living History arm of The Slave Dwelling Project.
