👩‍🎨 Who Can Apply?

This opportunity is available for emerging and professional artists, performers, musicians, curators, writers, and other cultural practitioners. The residency focuses on international artists, including national artists living abroad, for the development of artistic projects, whether individual or collective.

Zaratan embraces a multidisciplinary and experimental approach, welcoming all forms of artistic expression.

⏳ Residency Details

• DURATION: 4 weeks
• RESIDENCY PERIOD: Between May 2026 and December 2026
• GRANT: This annual grant covers studio and accommodation fees for the selected artist.

🏠 About ZARATAN AIR

Founded in 2015, ZARATAN AIR aims to enhance knowledge exchange among artists through creative and productive practices. The residency allows an enriching mix of experienced and emerging artists to create in an experimental context alongside the local community. Artists are provided with:

• Private accommodation and a 24/7 working studio
• Technical assistance
• Promotion and communication support
• Opportunities for public presentations of their residency outcomes, including performances and open studios.

Though specialized labs are not provided, logistical support for production and events will be offered via a network of partners.

To apply for the annual grant, send an email to production@zaratan.pt with the following information in a single PDF file (max 24mb):

1. Bio/CV
2. Portfolio or website
3. Description of your intended project during the residency
4. Proposed duration of stay at Zaratan.

🧐 Evaluation Process

Applications will be assessed by a committee consisting of artists, curators, community members, and board members. Notice will be sent via email post-evaluation.

All applications submitted for the grant will also be considered for the regular residency program for 2026, which entails a residency fee. Support for funding applications is available for accepted residents.
