This Czech Television documentary offers a unique perspective on the urban environment of Brno, where scientists observe the nesting of kestrels and swifts in building facades and the lives of little owls in the nooks of high-rise buildings. City parks are not just homes to various bird species but also serve as winter roosts for thousands of crows, transforming cities into modern wildernesses.

The filmmakers capture the interaction between birds and humans, from passionate nature protectors to those who are less welcoming of these creatures in their neighborhoods. This documentary is part of the series Uprising of Animals, documenting the changing coexistence of humans and wildlife in today's world. (Czech Republic, 26 minutes)

🌊❄️ Return to the Bird Lakes
Central European birds face food shortages and low temperatures during winter. They search for food, mates, nesting sites, and nurture their young, even in areas rendered uninhabitable by years of destruction. Some species migrate to warmer countries in the autumn, while sedentary birds are seen throughout the year at home. During their journeys, many take breaks in wetlands across the continent, while some, like cormorants, stay through winter on rivers or lakes. Catching food is never guaranteed, as hungry beaks abound. Thankfully, the icy winter will soon come to an end, replaced by rain as the ice on lakes melts. Once the ice thaws, opportunities for diving ducks to catch their meals increase; however, their troubles continue as they remain part of the food chain. (Slovenia, 55 minutes)
