Peter Šavel & kolektív: What The Folk
What The Folk is a new dance production by Sona Ferienčíková and Peter Šavel, which will have its Slovak premiere at the Bratislava v pohybe 2026 festival. Drawing on folklore traditions, it explores whether dance can create a shared space even in times of prejudice, fear, and social tension. The creators work with rhythm, ritual, and communal experience. The result is a performance about belonging, shared energy, and the need to be together.
Peter Šavel (Slovakia) is a choreographer, performer, and educator based in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Belgium. He studied dance pedagogy at the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) and the P.A.R.T.S. school in Brussels. In his work, he focuses on physical, precisely composed dance and the relationship between the individual and the group.
Soňa Ferienčíková (Slovakia) is one of the leading figures in contemporary dance in Slovakia. As a choreographer, performer, and producer, she has been behind numerous projects presented on both domestic and international stages. She is the founder of the organization BOD.Y, which supports the creation of new dance works and international collaborations.
This event is intended for audiences aged 12 and older.
