Johana Klára Kratochvílová will present a solo concert for cimbalom. Her current artistic practice with the instrument is informed by her background in both classical and experimental music, and remains open to further development. The programme may be understood not as a closed project, but as an ongoing exploration of the possible directions of the cimbalom within her work. In the composition Disunited Synergy, she brings together the sound of the cimbalom, voice, and electronics.
Kratochvílová has received numerous awards for her performance practice and has appeared as a soloist with the Brno Philharmonic, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, and the South Bohemian Philharmonic. She also attracted wider attention as a member of the duo Thyme, where, together with Martin Dominik Kratochvíl, she explored the possibilities of the cimbalom in relation to electronic sound.
Her current solo work has been presented within the programmes of Festival Alternativa, Sanatorium Sonorum, LOM space, and Jednota, among others.
