About This Workshop

Join artist LuLu Meng alongside collaborators Eunjoo Song (South Korea) and Büşra Bü (Türkiye) for a cozy afternoon of folding, tasting, and storytelling. In this workshop, we view the dumpling as a metaphor for people—varied in shape, texture, and "filling," just like us. There’s no pressure for perfection; we embrace the imperfect as a gentle entry point for conversation, community, and fun. 🤗

The Exchange: Eunjoo and Büşra share authentic techniques and flavors from their home countries, South Korea and Türkiye, opening a window into their heritage and family rituals. 🌍

The Making: Get your hands in the dough! Learn to fold both Korean- and Turkish-style dumplings in a warm, communal studio setting. 🥟

The Fusion: Experiment freely—mix folding styles, pair unexpected fillings, and make it your own. 🎨

The Roles: Shift between maker, server, guest, and host—everyone is a co-creator of the meal. 🍽️

The Find: In honor of Lulu's grandfather, a lucky penny is hidden in one dumpling. Whoever finds it gets good luck for the year ahead! 🍀

Pinch of Us is a participatory workshop series created by multidisciplinary artist LuLu Meng. Rooted in LuLu's Taiwanese upbringing and Lunar New Year traditions, the humble dumpling becomes a vessel for storytelling, connection, and intimacy. This special session is joined collaboratively by Eunjoo Song (South Korea) and Büşra Bü (Türkiye)—inviting you to fold, taste, and celebrate shared culinary traditions across cultures. 🎉
