Family Art Workshop for the [GA-I-SU-RA] Exhibition (https://www.dox.cz/program/ga-i-su-ra)
Czech Japanologist, translator, journalist, calligrapher, photographer, and educator Petr Geisler lived and worked for most of his life straddling the Czech Republic/Czechoslovakia and Japan. And the GA-I-SU-RA exhibition features numerous artifacts and works that demonstrate that Petr Geisler devoted himself to the roles mentioned a few lines above in an intense and unique way. And that an exhibition like this is, in a way, a gateway between two worlds—the Japanese and the Czech. And since the rest of us are often straddling different worlds, places, and roles, we’ll try to capture this intersection, this passage between them, in a family workshop. It doesn’t necessarily have to be free calligraphy, as in Mr. Geisler’s case, nor an exact translation. Instead, we’ll try something like a postcard, a souvenir, a greeting from a place that also has something unique about it.
