Quantum Networking Strategy and Testbeds Event

Testbeds will be vital to accelerating the development of quantum networking technologies and driving the deployment of future quantum networks. DSIT and UKRI are committed to ensuring that our over £120 million investment in quantum networking by 2030 most effectively targets critical sector requirements and challenges. Central to achieving that goal is driving even closer collaboration between government and the quantum sector to ensure that policy is best informed by the sector’s needs.
This event, hosted by DSIT, UKRI, and UKQuantum, aims to bring together the sector around a clearer strategic vision for the UK government approach to quantum networking in this stage of the National Quantum Technology Programme and dig deeper into sector priorities for the focus and scale quantum networking testbeds – ahead of the R&D testbeds competition launching in Q4 2026.
The objectives of this event are:
For DSIT and UKRI to present an overall view of the quantum networking programme, greater clarity on expected timelines for upcoming quantum networking funding, and the key policy objectives for funded quantum networking testbeds
For DSIT and UKRI to kick of the next phase of industry engagement on quantum networking testbeds – to better understand industry priorities and requirements for driving future quantum network deployment
To bring the sector together to discuss opportunities for collaboration on quantum networking testbeds
