Solar Observing

Join us for an exciting solar observing experience this summer! Our expert staff will lead you in safe solar viewing sessions using specialized solar telescopes. Learn about our closest star with hands-on activities:

• Safe Solar Equipment: We utilize advanced methods to filter sunlight, allowing for a safe and educational experience.
  • White Light Filters: Block 99.999% of sunlight, revealing sunspots without risk!
  • H-alpha SolarMax II Telescope: Lets you see fascinating solar prominences in vivid red light (656nm).
  • Sunspotters: Use mirrors and lenses to project the Sun onto a screen, where you can draw and trace sunspots to create your own solar data log. 📖✏️

Important Note: Solar observing will be canceled in case of heavy clouds, rain, or extreme temperatures. Decisions will be made approximately 24 hours in advance, so stay tuned!
