This event features innovative performances that delve into acoustic phenomena and the relationship between the body and surgical precision. At the heart of the evening is Ragnhild May’s new composition ‘differences’, commissioned by Ear Transplant. This unique piece showcases custom-made sculptural instruments designed to generate difference tones — those elusive extra notes our ears perceive when multiple sounds harmonize, even though they aren’t directly produced by the instruments. 🎼

Ragnhild reflects: “I see difference tones as an example of what could be called a prosthetic entanglement between body and instrument. This concept illustrates a new way of experiencing sound, shifting our understanding of the relationship between objects and bodies.”

In addition, Cathy Van Eck’s piece, ‘Music Stands’, challenges perceptions of everyday objects, revealing their sonic potential beyond mere practicality.

Prepare to be enveloped in 'Axis Spirat' by Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir, where four musicians will create a ritualistic experience as they interact with a moving head light, weaving long tones with surgical precision that dances alongside the light.

The evening culminates in a semi-improvised performance from Ear Transplant’s core members:
Matthew Grouse (e-guitar), Joss Smith (clarinets), Jónas Ásgeir Ásgeirsson (accordion), and Irene Bianco (percussion).
