Taste And Judgment For An Evolving Economy: The University’s Role

Om evenemanget

The Peregrine Collective is pleased to host a salon on the role of the university in preparing people for an evolving economy amidst AI disruption. We are convening an interdisciplinary group of stakeholders across academia and technology who will explore how the structures and incentives of higher education correspond to the skills necessary to confront a dynamic economy and foster our unique human capabilities.
By discerning the priorities of universities — from the pursuit of truth to individual formation to returns to society — we will gain clarity on how it can properly respond to changes brought by AI and further democratic values and the common good. We will analyze the changing skills employers are looking for, question what values those criteria reflect, and the implications for who becomes more powerful as a result.
We will be convening on a 16th floor terrace in the heart of San Francisco (walking distance from Powell St. BART), enjoy refreshments, and cultivate the intellectual friendship necessary to lead society in uncertain times.
Reserve your ticket and consider donating to help further Peregrine's mission in reviving intellectual culture through other events like this one. The Peregrine Collective accepts tax-deductible charitable donations as a 501(c)-3 organization.

About Peregrine
The Peregrine Collective is an organization dedicated to promoting a new intellectual culture through conferences, salons, and other events centered around intimate, rigorous discussion with small, curated audiences. We prioritize ambitious topics that aren't normally discussed and benefit from interdisciplinary discussion. We recently hosted a conference on the mission of the university, which the chancellor of UC Berkeley, Richard Lyons, attended, along with vice provosts, deans, professors, and presidents of academia-adjacent think tanks (learn more here).
