The Language of Masks: Inspired by Taiwan's Bajiajiang Tradition Workshop at TAAC house 17

Om evenemanget

Join us for an engaging mask-painting workshop led by studio artist Tsou Chia-Che at TAAC House 17! This creative experience invites you to delve into the rich cultural tapestry of masks, drawing inspiration from Taiwan's Bajiajiang (八家將) tradition.

Rather than a formal lecture, this workshop focuses on exploration and expression of your unique cultural backgrounds and stories. Through art and conversation, we'll uncover how masks symbolize identity, storytelling, celebration, and transformation across various cultures, from Taiwanese temple festivals to African ceremonies, Indigenous traditions, and beyond.

Participants will have the opportunity to create their own masks, inspired by the vibrant colors and forms of Bajiajiang, while reflecting on personal symbolism and cultural memories. Come and celebrate the art of masks with us!
