Touching Sound Dance + Artist Talk

Join us in the North Gallery for Touching Sound — an engaging performance where improvisational dance by Irene Hsiao meets live violin by Caroline Jesalva. Experience a real-time dialogue between body and sound!

Following the performance, participate in an artist talk with Kristen Youngman, who will discuss the creation of this piece, from initial sketches to interactive prototypes. Discover how it embodies the visual language of the original Tangible Sound exhibition and Deutsch's body of work.

• Kristen Youngman: A Chicago-based immersive artist and experiential creative director, Youngman designs participatory experiences that capture the spirit of Chicago's jazz legacy.
• Irene Hsiao: Known for her unique approach to dance, Hsiao creates performances that interact with visual art in museums and public spaces.
• Caroline Jesalva: A multidisciplinary artist and violinist-vocalist, Jesalva specializes in contemporary and experimental music, having studied at the New England Conservatory of Music.
