Class Details

• Hands-on instruction in small groups
• Learn backup, soloing, leading songs, and harmony
• Explore standard bluegrass songs and etiquette
• All levels welcome and accommodated
• Friendly and supportive teaching environment
• Only requirement: ability to play G, C, D, A chords, or matching notes on fiddle or bass

About the Instructor

Bruce Thompson (Middle Grove, NY)
Bruce began his musical journey in elementary school, exploring the violin and later transitioning to guitar and dobro. With a deep passion for acoustic folk and bluegrass, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Composition at the Berklee College of Music. After ten years performing in the Boston area, he moved to Saratoga County, NY, where he engaged in community and school music events. In 2020, he rekindled his love for acoustic music, teaching at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, becoming a well-known figure in the local bluegrass scene.
