Michal Horáček: Takoví jsme byli

Songs and Arias Inspired by Biblical Stories

During forty weeks of 2025, Michal Horáček wrote poems conceived as monologues and dialogues of various biblical figures.Each of them had rhythm, rhyme, and a refrain, and thus naturally invited musical setting.Leading figures from both rock and classical music then took up his challenge, including Michael Kocáb, Ivo Viktorin, Lukáš Sommer, Michal Novinski, and many others.

The songs were gradually recorded by artists such as Iva Bittová, Michael Kocáb, Xavier Baumaxa, Katarína Koščová, Robert Křesťan, Jiří Pavlica, Vojtěch Pelka (countertenor), Vanda Šípová (soprano), and Roman Janál (baritone). In this way, an extensive and stylistically diverse musical cycle was created — and is still continuing to grow.
