Join us for a captivating night with Annie Mack, a gifted singer-songwriter and passionate activist for healing justice. As a proud Queer Black woman and mother of three, Annie's powerful narrative is intricately woven into her music, reflecting her journey through oppressive systems in pursuit of black joy, healing, and justice. 🎤✨
Born and raised in North Minneapolis, Annie's musical roots are deeply influenced by the vibrant Twin Cities music scene of the '80s. Her experiences growing up amidst the sounds of artists like The Gap Band and Prince ignited her love for music. After the loss of her mother, she realized the importance of pursuing what she loves in life, which has since blossomed into a thriving musical career.
Annie has made her mark on stages across North America, playing at esteemed festivals such as the John Coltrane Jazz Festival and Twin Cities Jazz Festival. She's shared the spotlight with a diverse array of artists including Dessa, Ondara, and blues legend Robert Cray, and she's featured in the book 50 Women in the Blues alongside icons like Bessie Smith and Janis Joplin.
Her debut album, Baptized in the Blues, set her on the musical map, followed by her deeply personal EP Tell It Like It Is. Most recently, her album Testify (2021) showcases her unique blend of blues, country, rock, and soul. 🌟
When not performing, Annie serves as a death doula, providing comfort to those in their final moments. Don't miss this intimate evening filled with soulful music and profound storytelling!
