🔍 Explore the harrowing history of post-war repression at the Warsaw Rising Museum! Over a stunning area of 600 m², this exhibition sheds light on the struggles of insurgents face the dark aftermath of their fight for independence.
🕵️♂️ A diligent team of conservators has uncovered several dozen poignant traces left by prisoners in the basement, including drawings, initials, and poignant sentences inside six restored cells. Although the drawings may be faint, elements such as line calendars and monograms can still be deciphered, connecting visitors to the tortured past.
🖼️ In addition, discover unique memorabilia from those detained in various prisons including Rakowiecka Street and Wronki—items such as:
- Bread chess pieces
- A bread medallion
- A cross
- An embroidered grosgraph with a crowned eagle
- A cigar box
- A pencil case
- A ring made of horsehair
- Fragments of a toothbrush and beads made of fish bones
- A heart-shaped box
- A fragment of a comb
🥇 Experience a powerful juxtaposition of two converging value systems: the repressive security apparatus and the valiant heroes of the anti-communist underground. This exhibition serves as a tragic epilogue to previous displays at MPW, highlighting the fate of insurgents persecuted after the war.
