Derby Hat Workshop

Join us for an exciting journey into the art of millinery! 🎉 Once upon a time, hats were a staple of everyday attire, and the craft of hat-making was a respectable profession for women seeking to provide for their families. In the 18th and 19th centuries, hat-making flourished in places like NYC, employing countless women in this vibrant industry. For those who couldn't afford a ready-made hat, women’s magazines offered patterns and guidance for DIY creations from the mid-18th century well into the 1960s.

In this workshop, we will dive into the rich history of millinery in the United States before rolling up our sleeves to craft our very own hats for Derby Day! 🏇✨ Discover how simple materials like placemats, feathers, flowers, and vintage jewelry can come together with just a glue gun to create stunning pieces.
