Minami Deutsch is a phenomenal krautrock band from Tokyo, Japan, renowned for their hypnotic sound inspired by psychedelic rock and minimal techno. Their self-proclaimed title of “repetition freaks” reflects their dedication to krautrock, a genre steeped in history, as hinted by their name meaning “South Germany.”
Founded by Kyotaro Miula in 2014, Minami Deutsch started their journey on the lively streets of Tokyo and has since released three albums under the local label Guruguru Brain. Their music has connected them with audiences across Europe and the United States, sharing the stage with legends like Damo Suzuki of CAN fame.
Their latest album, Fortune Goodies (2022), showcases a uniquely Japanese take on the krautrock legacy, enriched by Miula's experiences after moving to Berlin.
In 2024, they completed two tours in North America, further solidifying their reputation in the modern kraut/psychedelic music scene.
