🎶 Join the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra for an unforgettable evening of stirring music that bridges tradition and innovation!
🌅 The concert opens with Mussorgsky’s Dawn on the Moskva River, a radiant prelude selected by Maestro Ochsner, symbolizing renewal and the start of an exciting new season for the YSO.
🌌 We then dive into the captivating soundscapes of Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir, whose 2022 piece ARCHORA invites us to experience primordial energy through music that breathes, shifts, and transforms—celebrating the enduring power of orchestral art through time.
⛵ The first half comes to a bright close with Mendelssohn’s Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage, a hopeful melody wishing for success in this new chapter.
🎉 After intermission, we return to the Maestro’s Nordic roots with Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 4, “The Inextinguishable.” Composed in the wake of the First World War, this triumphant symphony is a powerful affirmation of life’s tenacity, celebrating the resilience and blossoming spirit of humanity and music itself.
