Formed in 1997, KASTA (Каста) is an iconic name in the world of Russian rap, renowned for transforming the genre into a cultural phenomenon in their homeland. The group, consisting of four talented members—Vlady, Shym, Hamil, and Zmey—began their journey with hardcore hip-hop inspirations before evolving into a diverse musical palette, boasting over 10 full-length studio albums.

Originating from Rostov-on-Don, close to the Ukrainian border, KASTA has been vocal against the Russian invasion of Ukraine since its onset, stating: “We are shocked by Russia's attack on Ukraine. This is pure military aggression that has no justification.” As a result, their performances are now banned in Russia.

Their music is characterized by anti-regime and anti-totalitarian themes, with tracks like “Vyhodi gulyat” becoming anthems for movements of freedom in Belarus. KASTA’s latest releases, including the anti-war album Novinki Zarubezhnogo Rapa and Vlady’s solo album February lasts and lasts, reflect on the impact of the ongoing conflict on a whole generation.
