Kronos Quartet: Three Bones
Join us for an extraordinary evening as the Kronos Quartet unveils the world premiere of their latest large-scale project, 'Three Bones'! This captivating multimedia theatrical experience takes you on a journey through the rich histories of Indigenous, Gullah-Geechee, and Chinese American communities in the United States.
Crafted over more than three years, 'Three Bones' masterfully intertwines live performance, video, visual art, recordings, and environmental sound. Featured in the prestigious Carnegie Hall’s United in Sound: America at 250 festival, this three-act presentation celebrates the transmission and amplification of cultural histories through sound, utilizing vintage recordings brought to life in captivating performances.
Throughout its impressive 52-year legacy, Kronos has led the way in merging visual and theatrical elements into concert experiences. This spirit of innovation is encapsulated in 'Three Bones', enriching storytelling in each segment with dynamic visual media.
Each act is enhanced by stunning video backdrops created by XUAN, a visionary new media artist who blends music, visual art, and technology. Additionally, immersive projected visuals by Cherokee/Choctaw sculptor Jeffrey Gibson and San Francisco-based fiber artist Wendy Chien complement the first and third panels, respectively, creating a rich tapestry of art and sound. Don't miss this landmark event that not only entertains but also educates and celebrates cultural narratives! 🌍🎨
