About Pat Metheny:
Born in Lee's Summit, MO, on August 12, 1954, Pat Metheny began his musical journey at age 8 with the trumpet, before switching to guitar at 12. By 15, he was already working alongside top jazz musicians in Kansas City.
He burst onto the international jazz scene in 1974 with vibraphonist Gary Burton, showcasing a unique playing style that harmoniously blended jazz traditions with modern improvisations.
Pat's groundbreaking album Bright Size Life (1975) redefined guitar sounds for a new generation. Throughout his career, he's collaborated with an impressive range of artists, from Steve Reich to David Bowie, and composed for various formats including orchestras and ballet pieces.

In addition to his musical talent, Metheny is a respected music educator and the youngest teacher ever at both the University of Miami and Berklee College of Music. His innovative spirit in electronic music set a new standard, influencing many genres.
With numerous accolades including 20 Grammy Awards and recognition as an NEA Jazz Master, Metheny has been a beacon in the jazz world, consistently inspiring both emerging artists and veterans alike.
