Public Astronomy Observation

🌌 Join Us for a Night Under the Stars! 🌌

Experience the wonders of the night sky at the SIU Carbondale School of Physics and Applied Physics Astronomy Observation Deck, located on the roof of the Neckers building at 1245 Lincoln Drive. This event is a fantastic opportunity to engage in guided telescopic observations with the Astronomical Association of Southern Illinois!

✨ Highlights of the Evening:

• The Moon will shine bright at 80% phase.
• Spot Jupiter along with its 4 Galilean moons throughout the observation.
• Witness Venus at 89% phase early in the evening.
• Other spectacular sights include the Hercules Globular Cluster (M13).

👶 Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by adults.
Please note that the observation deck is not handicap accessible and can only be reached via stairs.
While this is an outdoor event, be prepared to be in close proximity to others throughout the evening; masks are optional.
