SUB LAB PRO / Valentin Alfery (AT): SLOW BURNER

🌍✨ SLOW BURNER is an interactive dance experience that explores how our human interactions and encounters shape the world we inhabit. 🌠

Crafted by Austrian choreographer Valentin Alfery and the talented dancers of SUB.LAB.PRO, this performance transforms everyday social interactions into a dynamic and cascading flow of movement. Merging contemporary dance with street and club styles, the choreography unfolds like a captivating puzzle, inviting the audience to engage with the unfolding narrative. 🎭🩰

Inspiration for SLOW BURNER comes from Zbigniew Rybczyński's 1980 Oscar-winning short film, Tango, leading to a rich tapestry of choreographed moments that illuminate the importance of interpersonal connections. As the performance progresses, a tension builds, maintaining a sense of anticipation while imbuing each movement with physicality. The spectators are invited to relate their own experiences to the unfolding visual feast. 🔥✨

The choreography draws from the Treasure Flow practice, characterized by elements such as weaving, fixed points, cause and effect, replaying, repositioning, and following, along with inspiration from the dynamic visual layering of British animator Cyriak. 🎨👯‍♂️

About Valentin Alfery: A dancer and choreographer rooted in street and club styles, he co-founded the Austrian dance company Hungry Sharks with Dušana Baltić. With a diverse body of work since his first major production, Falling, in 2009, Alfery continues to innovate within the contemporary dance scene.

SUB.LAB.PRO Ensemble Program: This nine-month creative platform provides emerging dancers with a professional environment to thrive in the arts. Through collaborative creative processes, participants explore their craft under the guidance of various choreographers, culminating in performances at Trafó Nagyszínpad. 💃🕺
