Where Does AI Belong in Mental Health?

Where Does AI Belong in Mental Health?

About the event

Please Read Before You Join

This isn't a seminar or lecture. It's a discussion.

No expertise is required, just curiosity, care, and a willingness to think out loud together. Whether you're AI-curious, AI-literate, work in mental health, build AI systems, or are simply interested in the topic, you're welcome to join us.

To help everyone start from the same place, we ask that you complete the required reading beforehand. The discussion is designed around a shared understanding of the material, so everyone's preparation helps create a richer conversation.

If you have relevant experience, examples from your work, or other articles or research that offer additional perspectives, we'd love for you to bring them into the discussion.

AI is increasingly becoming part of how people seek emotional support, reflect on difficult experiences, and access mental health resources. New possibilities are emerging just as quickly as important questions.

Where can AI genuinely help? Where should human care remain central? How should we think about trust, responsibility, and safety? And what do these questions look like in the Singapore context?

Join us for the first Paper Club by the AI in Mental Health Spaces Community of Practice, where we'll explore these questions together through a shared set of readings and conversation.

Rather than a presentation or panel discussion, this session is designed to be highly participatory. We'll begin with a short introduction before moving into a mix of whole-group discussions and small breakout conversations, giving everyone the opportunity to exchange perspectives, challenge assumptions, and collectively explore what these developments could mean for people, organisations, and society.

Whether you leave with new questions, a fresh perspective, or a meaningful connection, the goal is simple: to create a space where people from different backgrounds can thoughtfully explore one of the most important conversations emerging at the intersection of AI and mental health.

More About the Host
Grace Koh is a Registered social worker, play/trauma therapist, and trainer who has worked in a Family Service Centre, Child Protection Specialist Centre, and is currently in private practice. She has embarked on a new season of building mental health adjacent applications with AI.

She is the organiser of the ‘AI in Mental Health Spaces’ Community of Practice, a cross-disciplinary community bringing together mental health practitioners, allied health professionals, engineers, researchers, builders, educators, and others to explore the role of AI in the mental health sphere. She hopes people across disciplines can creatively and thoughtfully examine both the opportunities and responsibilities as AI becomes part of mental health practice. Through thoughtful study, facilitated conversations, and collaborative building, she hopes to make this journey we take less lonely and more life-giving.
