Meditation & Philosophy: Pathless

An intimate salon evening — stillness, deep listening & philosophy.

Pathless is a salon-style evening built around Mindstillness and real conversation. It begins in silence and ends in dialogue: a guided TRANŚCEND LIVE experience to settle the mind, followed by an encounter with the work of Jiddu Krishnamurti — a short film, a brief interpretation, and a few questions worth sitting with — then three rounds of moderated discussion.

No performance. No dogma. No fixed path. Just a quiet, elegant room, a settled mind, and the kind of conversation that rarely happens anywhere else.

The Setting — The Gallery at Soho Grand

The evening is held at The Gallery at Soho Grand, a private, street-level art gallery in the heart of SoHo. It has its own dedicated entrance, private facilities, and an open 1,345 sq ft floor made for live sound and stillness.

Seating is deliberately limited. This is a small room by design — intimacy is the point, and space is genuinely finite.

A non-alcoholic bar is open inside The Gallery throughout the evening.

What is MindSTILLness?

MindSTILLness is Vīrya's approach to self-transcending meditation. Rather than asking you to concentrate, control your thoughts, or "do" mindfulness, it lets the mind settle naturally into a quieter, more restorative state — by doing nothing.

The result is often felt as deep rest while still awake: a simple, effortless way to turn the mind OFF and feel renewed in minutes.

Why Krishnamurti — and Why Now

Krishnamurti (1895–1986) is one of the most quietly radical thinkers of the twentieth century, and one of the hardest to categorize.

Groomed from boyhood by the Theosophical Society to become a "World Teacher," he did the unthinkable: in 1929, before some three thousand followers at Ommen, Holland, he dissolved the very organization built around him, renounced the role, and declared that truth is a pathless land — approachable by no religion, no sect, no method, and no guru, himself included.

Everything after followed from that refusal. For nearly six decades he spoke and wrote against systems, authority, belief, and the comfort of the known — insisting that freedom is not something you are led toward, but something that begins the moment you observe your own thought, perception, and conditioning directly, without a middleman.

He was an anti-guru whose reach ran far past spiritual circles:

With physicist David Bohm, he held a landmark series of recorded dialogues on thought, time, and consciousness in 1980, published as The Ending of Time — a rare, sustained meeting of physics and philosophy.

Aldous Huxley wrote the introduction to his The First and Last Freedom (1954).

His themes echo through Alan Watts, and through Bruce Lee, whose Jeet Kune Do — "using no way as way" — is a martial expression of the same distrust of fixed forms and inherited systems.

He was read, argued with, and admired across science, literature, and art — among the wider circle drawn to him were figures like Bertrand Russell, Henry Miller, and voices from the mid-century art world.

Why now.

His real subject was the conditioned mind — how belief, authority, and constant mental noise quietly run us. In an age of algorithmic feeds, borrowed opinions, and outsourced thinking, a thinker who asks you to watch your own mind, question every authority (his own included), and think without a script reads less like history and more like a prescription.

Our Access to the Work

We have been granted rights by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust to use selected Krishnamurti texts and video material. The clips and passages you'll encounter at Pathless are drawn from the source itself — his own words and recorded talks, not second-hand summaries. It is the foundation for a refined, ongoing series built around his work.

How the Evening Presents His Ideas

Pathless is designed as an experience, not a lecture.

Arrival — enter through The Gallery's private street entrance at Soho Grand.

TRANŚCEND LIVE Dive — a guided live session using sound to state-shift the mind out of speed and into "OFF": a deeper state of rest. Not a sound bath in the usual sense — nothing to concentrate on, nothing to force.

The clip — a short, selected piece of Krishnamurti on film.

Interpretation — a brief, plain-language framing of what he's pointing at, and why it matters.

Questions to sit with — a few prompts, offered before we open the floor.

Three rounds of discussion — three moderated 30-minute rounds, beginning from stillness rather than performance. Slower, more honest, less rehearsed.

Throughout, the non-alcoholic bar stays open inside The Gallery.
