Join us for a compelling program on Friday, May 15th, at the Museum of Ashe County History, featuring Lonnie Jones as he explores the often-overlooked enslaved cemeteries of Ashe County.
The Ashe County Cemetery Committee has dedicated countless hours to locating, mapping, cleaning, and restoring these lost and neglected cemeteries, revealing gravesites that hold the stories of Ashe County's enslaved residents. During this enlightening talk, Mr. Jones will share the steps the committee has undertaken to mark and preserve these historical graves for future generations.
Mr. Jones, who currently serves as vice president of the museum’s board, is also a founder of the Ashe County Cemetery Committee and has authored several works on Ashe County's history.
