About the Artist
Patrik Hábl (10 July 1975, Zlín) is a distinguished Czech painter, printmaker, and educator, recognized as a key figure in contemporary Czech art. His artistic journey began at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště, later studying at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague under Pavel Nešleha. He has also enriched his experience through studies at the Mukhina Academy in St. Petersburg and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague with Vladimír Kokolia.
Known for his innovative techniques, Hábl often employs methods like torn painting, roller application, and fluid pigment manipulation. His works frequently defy traditional framing, merging seamlessly with their architectural environments. 🖌️🏛️
His impressive portfolio includes large-scale spatial interventions, especially in sacred spaces, and his exhibitions span both the Czech Republic and the international stage. A recipient of numerous accolades, including the Waldes Prize and the Europol Art Award, his pieces have graced prestigious auction houses like Sotheby's and Christie's. Currently, he imparts his knowledge at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and resides in Prague.
